SMALL BUT MIGHTY
Carved hillside, nice nooks.
This space had the best mature tree canopy and occupants with an amazing eye for design, but the hillside was overgrown and not really livable. We needed to carve out the space to create a gathering patio, some steps to a dining nook down in the corner, and fill in a hidden little shady garden.
Some gentle carving allowed us to create the dining nook - we built some corner benches with storage and sourced an amazing vintage pendant lamp from an old factory. The planting areas needed some containment to allow for flow so we built planters along with the steps. The shady garden had some particularly lovely light, so we put an informal stepping path to a sitting rock. A perfect place to observe and meditate.
